➢ You must advertise the job offer on the Internet for a minimum of 30 days

➢ If the position remains open, the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) will issue an official declaration stating you are allowed to hire non-EU workers

➢ Post a job ad on VideoWorkers and select from the candidates who applied or search the database directly

➢ After finding a good match, conduct the interview and make a job offer, then sign an employment contract

➢ Go to https://vistos.mne.gov.pt/en and identify the type of visa under which you can hire non-EU workers

➢ Your future employee must submit the application for a work visa to the competent Diplomatic Mission 

➢ Required documents: 

◦ Portugal National Visa application form fully completed and signed

◦ Two recently taken photographs (35 X 45 mm) not older than six months

◦ Passport (original and copy) valid at least 3 months beyond the return date

◦ For candidates residing in a country other than their country of citizenship – valid residence card or proof of regular status. The residence card must be valid beyond the expiration date of the visa.

◦ Health insurance, unless exempted due to a Bilateral or international agreement between Portugal and a non-EU country

◦ Criminal record (legalized with the Hague Apostille – if applicable)

◦ Employment contract, promise of employment, or demonstration of interest

◦ Proof of sufficient means of subsistence. In this regard, the funds derived from an employment contract or promise of employment will be considered as evidence of financial means.

◦ Professional certifications and occupational licenses

◦ Authorization to check the Portuguese criminal record

◦ Invitation letter 

◦ Flight reservation

◦ Proof of accommodation

◦ Professional resume

➢ Application fee: € 75 for a temporary stay visa and € 90 for a residency visa

➢ Processing time: 2-3 months

➢ After your employee applies for a work visa, there’s a separate process for obtaining a residence permit

➢ You can apply for a residence permit on behalf of your employee at AIMA

◦ Employee’s copy of passport and Portuguese work visa

◦ Proof of accommodation

◦ Proof of sufficient funds
